Kaleb Blurp

My how time flies...I just can't believe Kaleb is getting so big. He is a great kid. I was looking back at the beginning of our blog and noticing how much has changed with him. His vocabulary has exploded and he talks so big now. He can be such a funny kid with such an imagination and hilarious sayings. Here are a few things about him:

* He loves grilled cheese every day for lunch...with chips, cottage cheese, an orange or an apple. He'll name every item he wants.

* He has been praying all by himself for his food. So sweet. The other night we had some friends over. We had just sat down and Kaleb started praying immediatley...we all bowed our heads quickly and let him finish praying for our food. He is very thankful in his prayer...it usually goes like this..."Thankful for our day, thankful for our children, thankful for Jesus, thankful for our workers, thankful for our friends, help me be good e-sample, help us be good boys and girls, help us love you with all our heart, thankful for our food, Jesus name, Amen." Don't ever want to forget his sweet prayers that come right from his heart.

* He also loves to sing graces...his favorite is 'by day, by day'.

* Kaleb has always loved his working pants...they have holes at the knees and they are just like what his uncle Aaron wears. He has one pair with large holes in them and another pair that have the beginning of holes at the knees. He told me the other morning it was too cold and so he wanted his 'little holy ones'! =)

* It was the last of the duck season a couple weekends back. Nathan had to get his Saturday fill in so he went hunting in the morning and the afternoon. Kaleb asked where daddy had gone that afternoon...I told him duck hunting. He normally gets very excited about daddy going hunting but this time he expressed his emapthy for me....He said,"Again?....sorry about that, mom." I laughed so hard! Now anytime he gets in trouble or he thinks I'm not happy about something, he'll say, "Sorry about that, mom." Definitly gets me smiling!

* Kaleb has really learned his manners in saying 'please and thank-you'. We try to praise him because he thrives on hearing what a good boy he is. Nathan told him one day thank you for being such a good boy and using your manners. Kaleb just told him..."Yeah, mommy always, tells me that."

* His Papa Ron told Kaleb he had bought a gun for him. Well, now Papa Ron is coming this weekend and Kaleb is expecting his gun. Kaleb has an awesome memory. You don't tell him something and expect him to forget it. Everyday he talks about 'when my (that is the word he uses instead of 'I') be 5, I get to go huntin' with dad." It'll be a long time in his little head but he won't forget it!

* He still can look at hunting magazines for hours and never get tired of the same ones. He loves pointing out every animal.

* Shoes are a sore topic with me and Kaleb. I can pick out the most handsome shoes and he won't wear them. So, I now take him with me to do shoe shopping. His usual response when I ask if he'd wear this one is "ummmm, probably not". UUUGGGG! It's usually the brightest pair of tennis shoes that catch his attention.

*We have had issues with his socks....he does not want 'up' socks...he only wants 'down' socks. If his socks come up above his ankle, he has to push them down. The funny part, he loves to wear his long pajamas, under his knees. So, the only PJ's he'll wear are the ones with the stretch fabric at the end so he can pull them up! =) The other day I was wearing a skirt that hit my knees and in his excited voice, he said matter of factly, "MOM, you are wearing your up skirt!" What a hoot!

* The last couple of weeks have been very exciting. Kaleb has become more and more aware of his need to use the restroom. It has taken forever and we've tried every tactic...believe me! The thing that has worked the best is everytime he went in the big boy potty, he got to watch his hunting videos. The thought of not being able to watch them just hurts him so badly. So, now we've been accident free for the past couple of days and now instead of us asking him constantly if he needs to go to the bathroom, he tells us he needs to go!!!! YEAH!!! It's so cute...after he has accomplished his deed in the bathroom, he says, "mom, you are all happy now!" It's sad how frustrating potty training can be.

I'm gonna use this tactic... Kekoa LOVE, LOVE, LOVES to watch his videos on the portable DVD player we have. I'm going to tell him that when he sits on the potty, he can watch them. Thank you so much for posting about that. I have a good feeling this might work. I'll be back to let you know how it works out.
