My Little Cowboy

Kaleb and Magic have bonded and Kaleb enjoys just leading her around. He has been using some of the Parelli techniques with lots of the 'friendly game' and the 'yo-yo' game (used to back a horse up and bring them to you). Kaleb would go to the stables every day if he could drive....unfortunatley, the stables are about a 35 minute drive which limits how much we go. I enjoy 'playing' with the horses also. I've bonded with one of Joy's (my mother-in-law) Fresians named Lydia. Kaleb can name every horse at the stables (about 15 of them). Every time daddy comes home and says he has been at the stables, Kaleb ask about EVERY horse...especially the ones that have had 'ouwies'. He gets very concerned when any animal or person does not feel well or is hurt. In fact, after coming home from working at the hospital he says, 'mommy, go to the hospital and make people better today?" Then he'll take my stethescope and want to listen to me and with a concerned look say, "feel okay, mommy.....I'm the doctor." It's amazing how they put it all together.

Only 7 More Weeks!

I can hardly believe how the time has flown. Only 7 more weeks. I always heard the second one flies because the first one keeps you so busy. I must say I am not even close to ready so I'm hoping she will cook until at least her due date! I haven't gained as much weight with this pregnancy as I did with Kaleb. In fact, I can still wear my wedding ring and watch. With Kaleb, I retained so much water that early on in the pregnancy I had to get rid of my ring. My feet aren't swollen...yet! So, overall, I've had a great pregnancy. We'll see what the next 7 weeks bring. When I was getting pictures done here Kaleb couldn't stand that he wasn't getting a photo shoot done of himself...so, we took a few of him!

The Stables and the Arena

The stables and arena...a work in progress! There are still lots of plans for some outside work and for more stalls to be put in along with a wash bay and several other items inside. However, they are open to the public for usage of the arena and to stall horses. Cindy, the stables manager, is also doing horse massages and lessons. It's becoming quite the facility!

This is where Nathan has spent a majority of his time! Kaleb and I enjoy coming out here too to play with the horses. Nathan and several others are actually turning the stables and arena into a non-profit organization focusing on children that fall under the Autism Spectrum. They will utilize the horse as a sensory tool to teach the children how to socialize and communicate. Their ultimate goal is to open a full time school here. They will have full time PT's, OT's, speech therapists, teachers, etc. In the mean time, there will be private lessons, research projects, summer camps, and a "private home school" for a limited number next fall. The full school is hoping to be funded by fall of 2009. The school will serve about 100-150 students.
